Get to Know Uzo (she/her):

  • Why did you choose to work in the mental health field?

I chose to work in mental health because having access to various mental health initiatives and services has had a huge impact on my life. I joined the field hoping to continue expanding accessibility and promoting diversity within these communities.

  • What's something you wish people knew about therapy or the therapy process?

One thing I wish people knew about the therapeutic process is that it's not a one-size-fits-all approach, unlike how mental health is often depicted in the media. In fact, lots of therapists have eclectic styles that serve to meet their clients' individual needs. Another thing is that there is no timeline for healing, and it's not a linear process.

  • Besides working at Embodied Wellness, PLLC, what do you enjoy in your spare time?

Outside of working at Embodied Wellness, I enjoy watching psychological thrillers and reality television, spending time with family and friends, and playing with my cat, who is named after Bella Swan from Twilight. I also really enjoy making art through painting, crocheting, and scrapbooking. Cooking, baking, and reading take up a decent amount of my spare time as well!

  • What is your favorite book, podcast, or mental health resource?

My favorite mental health book is Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents and my favorite unofficial mental health podcast is The Psychology of your 20s.
