You’ve spent the last however-many-years trying to keep everything together and you are exhausted. Your body is holding onto stress. Maybe you have tried therapy in the past and still feel like you haven’t fully healed. Despite being so hardworking, self-aware and intelligent, you fear you won’t succeed. You struggle with self-doubt and are your own worst critic. You feel your emotions so deeply and tend to overthink situations. You try to relax but your body just won’t let you. It’s time for a change.

Hi, my name is Sarah and I help resilient, motivated individuals learn how to release trauma and stress that is held in their bodies. After 10 years in practice, my clients notice changes in all areas of their lives and feel more at peace. The feeling of emptiness they once carried is replaced with presence and joy. In therapy, I take time to celebrate successes with my clients and use humor as a way to build safety, trust, and connection.

Who is your ideal client?

I work well with people who are curious about the beliefs and coping skills they developed as a child and how at one time they were helpful but now they are no longer effective. My ideal client wants to integrate both their mind and body/nervous system into therapy. I encourage clients to attend weekly therapy because I have found people have more immediate and long-term changes. In therapy, I will ask you to go into your body and check in with your sensations. I will invite you to slow down. I may even interrupt you- not because I don’t want to listen or hear what you have to say, but because I want to ensure that your nervous system’s story is also being heard. I will invite you to stay as curious as possible.

What’s something you wish people knew about therapy or the therapy process?

Therapy can actually be fun! I believe in the power of laughter, especially as a trauma therapist. There is a time and a place for laughter and joy in sessions, but therapy is not only about talking about stressful or negative events/experiences in our lives. I believe one of the goals of trauma therapy is to build a safe, supportive, and nurturing therapeutic relationship that includes having a bit of fun!

Why do you like being a therapist?

One of my greatest values in life is growth and as a therapist, I am growing and learning daily from my clients. As much as clients learn from their therapists, therapists equally learn from their clients. Every day, I am humbled by the strength, humility, and perseverance of my clients and this motivates me to be a better therapist and person.

Besides being a therapist, what do you enjoy in your spare time?

I enjoy listening to crime podcasts/shows, eating chocolate, traveling, spending time with my nieces, baking, and spending time with my friends and family.
